Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Summer 2008 in
Coding and Communications
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Utah State University
Overview
The REU Site at Utah State University (USU) supports up to eight undergraduate students in research activities in the field of coding and communications theory during a 10-week summer session. The program runs from June 18 through August 20, 2008. REU participants will receive an intensive period of formal instruction in information theory, communications, and coding theory and practice. This will be followed by a results-oriented period of research in problems relating to coding and communications in areas such as low-density parity-check codes, time-varying channel equalization, and joint trellis coded decoding. The research will be performed under the direction of faculty at USU in a setting designed to encourage interaction and collaboration as well as independent effort.
USU is located in a beautiful mountain valley, with easy access to a variety of outdoor activities. Weekly organized activities for REU participants will take advantage of this amazing setting.
Stipend and Allowance
The REU Site program provides stipends of $3600 in addition to housing and meal allowance of $1800. Travel reimbursement is provided up to $500.
